Compression and ease of movement allow patients to lead an active lifestyle

If you are a pharmacist, occupational therapist, hand therapist or other healthcare professional, we hope the technical information provided in this section can help in determining the appropriateness of the new Isotoner therapeutic glove for your patients.

Why is hand compression so important?
Edema of the hand is frequently encountered in varying degrees as the healing process proceeds. Because persistent edema has an indirect effect in contributing to hand stiffness, clinicians need to monitor swelling and devise appropriate plans of management based on the principles of elevation, compression and motion.1

Compression is vital in helping patients deal with painful swelling in their hands. And, because many compression devices inhibit motion and are recommended for use only when not in motion, Isotoner gloves allow for movement, helping the patient overall. Compression with the extra advantage of movement is key to helping patients get back to normal function.

Isotoner therapeutic glove compression is considered moderate at 23-32mm Hg.*
